Newly Elected County Commissioner Gray Speaks with Area Residents

Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray was the featured speaker at a recent meeting in Shenandoah. He told members of the Montgomery County Pachyderm Club that his first two months in office have felt like “two years.” Gray gave examples of situations where he has already made progress in cutting wasteful spending and ensuring county assets and equipment are properly maintained.

A portion of Shenandoah and its extraterritorial jurisdiction (east of I-45) is within Precinct 4.  Gray noted that this area covers about 1200 miles of road, compared to roughly 400 miles in Precinct 3. He said this precinct is growing rapidly and his office is already working on plans to address the drainage issues that are inevitable with increased development.

Gray said he “liked fixing things” and although it’s been a busy time, he and his staff enjoy the challenge. Gray is an eighth generation Texan and lifelong resident of the county. Prior to running for office last year, he worked in project management for both the oil and gas sector and a school district.
