At last night’s city council meeting, I spoke during Citizens’ Forum and requested more information regarding a lawsuit involving the city and Oak Haven Apartment Homes. I did this because over the last two months, city attorney Bill Ferebee has failed to fully update the public about this case which involves an easement dispute.
Last December, Ferebee gave the impression the city had won the case, but just a few days ago he filed a petition asking the Texas Supreme Court to “correct” the ruling of the appeals court.
When the litigation update came up on the agenda, Ferebee said he had nothing to update. Not one of the six council members followed up with a single question.
When city councilmen fail to listen to their constituents, it is time to replace them. When the city attorney gives misleading and incomplete reports regarding litigation, it is time to find another city attorney.
